Namaste, I am Mit Sukha, owner of Fountain of Youth Yoga Studio, I teach Hatha yoga. My style of teaching is heavily influenced by the Iyengar method of alignment while incorporating my own interpretations from my personal practice and the experiences of teaching over the years. I am a devoted yogi, inspired by all the great teachers old and young and greatly inspired by my clients whom I have learned so much from and whom has taught me so much in how to adjust the practice to meet their unique and individual needs. Every day that I teach is a learning experience for me and my clients and using the practice to meet our individual, physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Yoga is a giving practice and it is as necessary to me as air is to my life.
As it turns out my name ties right in with my life’s purpose; serving the universe as a yoga instructor. In Sanskrit Mit means friend and Sukha means: ease, happiness, wellbeing, bliss, pleasure. I am learning to pay attention to all the clues given to me in this life to continue on a path of self-discovery. As time goes on the pieces of the puzzle are slowly coming together.
Like most others I seek peace of mind within my life, daily. I am learning to accept the things I cannot change and to change the things that I can. I have come a long way on this journey and most days can be pretty peaceful, especially when I do my daily personal yoga practice and teaching. In those times I am completely at peace and present and the feelings of gratitude and living my purpose is at the highest level.
I was born in Haiti, raised and educated in Barbados and growing up in Grenada, I am as Caribbean as they come. A mixture of cultures and languages unique to each island but also unique and united as West Indians. At this point in my journey I am exploring the unity of Yoga and the Caribbean, without a doubt this is a harmonious reunion of the physical beauty of our islands with the peace of the discipline that fits perfectly together.
Please join us for our Saturday AM Yoga Tour:
We leave Grand Anse at 6:30am and head to Fort Frederick where we practice yoga, 730 feet above sea level overlooking the Town of St. George's with it's majestic mountains, Caribbean Sea and the south east coast of Point Salines.
That time of the morning is a magical time, practicing yoga way up on the fort, the peace and stillness of Grenada is simply surreal. After our yoga class we head up into the rain Forest and sit around the Grand Etang Crater Lake, an extinct volcano eighteen hundred (1800) feet above sea level for meditation. They are no words to describe the experience of meditating in the rain forest at the lake, it's an unforgettable experience. After meditation we sit and have a light picnic all vegetarian and local.
This tour is inspiration staring from the Universe, sharing this experience with you on our beautiful Grenada is an honor, I look forward to sharing this tour with you.
